Chihuahua, Chih., April 26th, 2023.
Dear Clients and Friends.
Last April 20th, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), presented the provisions to strengthen decent working conditions for employees in Mexico, in order to facilitate companies’ compliance with the labor obligations.
“VELAVO”, for its Spanish acronym, is the voluntary labor verification program, which is an alternative mechanism to labor inspection and through which labor centers voluntarily disclose, by means of a digital platform developed for such purposes, their level of compliance with labor regulations regarding: (1) general working conditions, (2) health, (3) safety, and on-the-job training and education: PDF.
The work centers that obtain the registration before the Federal authority will have the benefit of obviating and/or receiving ordinary inspections during a period of one year, and for each matter that they manage to prove it in the business center (the program, regulations and guidelines are attached).
