The resolution of the National Minimum Wage Committee (CONASAMI) that determines the general minimum wage and the professional fees as of January 1st, 2019 was published on the Federal Official Gazette (DOF) last December 26th, 2018.
The Representatives Council stated that the resolution uses the MIR (Independent Recovery Amount) scheme, which sole and exclusive purpose is to aid recover the purchase power of the general minimum wage and should not be used as a reference to increase the rest of the current wages on the labor market.
In order to apply the general minimum wage, the country will be divided into two zones:
1. The area known as “Free Zone on the Northern Border” (ZLFN) formed by the 43 municipalities that conform the border with the United States of America, and in which the general minimum wage as of January 1st 2019 will be of $176.72 daily pesos.
2. The General Minimum Wage Zone formed by the rest of the municipalities of the country and the counties (municipalities) of Mexico’s City, in which the general minimum wage as of January 1st 2019 will be of $102.68 daily pesos.
The general fees for professions, occupations, and especial assignments, which will be in force as of January 1st 2019 in all of the country, are available for consultation in the following link.
