By colmena | Uncategorized | Comments are Closed | 23 March, 2021 | 0

Chihuahua, Chih., March 23, 2021.

Dear Clients and Friends,

We hereby inform you that, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México “SRE”), posted on its social media the implementation of several restrictions to land transit for non-essential activities in the northern and southern border, starting on March 19th lasting until April 21st, 2021.

Additionally, the Ministry announced that the Mexican government will implement sanitary control measures in the northern and southern border of the country; however, it did not provide further details on said restrictions and measures.

The aforementioned measures will not apply to: Mexican citizens, temporary or permanent residents, travelers with medical or educational purposes.

As of today, the National Immigration Institute has not issued nor received any guidelines regarding the restrictive or sanitary control measures mentioned in the SRE’s statement.

The foregoing in response to the announcement made by the Department of Homeland Security of the United States, on March 18th, which stated that in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and in coordination with Canada and Mexico, restrictions on non-essential travel at land borders will be extended until April 21st.

In this regard, you will be informed as soon as the Mexican authorities issue the restrictive and sanitary control measures.

Finally, it is important to mention that the continuity of essential trade and travel flows will not be restricted.

You may contact Mr. Javier David Rodriguez at jrodriguez@iclmx.com for any further information that you might require.
