Chihuahua, Chih., June 27th, 2018.
Dear Clients and Friends,
We hereby inform you that legally speaking, July 1st of this year will be considered as a day off, this as a result of the ordinary federal elections in accordance to the article 74 section IX of the Federal Labor Law and article 22 of the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures, issued on 2014.
Nevertheless, the common practice consists in not granting such day off and to simply giving the opportunity for the employees to either arrive late or leave early for voting purposes, pursuant article 132, section IX of the Labor Law. Not granting such day off, would imply the risk of paying triple wages and possible employee complaints.
Historically, such day would be granted to those employees who participated as election officials or were involved on any other activity that implied taking part in the elections.
It is not a simple solution, due to the economic implications, in addition to the working environment that prevails in the city and state, either suspending production or paying a triple wage for such day.
