Chihuahua, Chih., August 8th, 2018.
Dear Clients and Friends,
As a part of the services offered by the immigration practice area, we hereby inform you that on August 31st, 2018, the “Resolution by which the Immigration Documents and Application and Statistical Forms of the National Institute of Immigration are amended and added” was published on the Federal Official Gazette.
The purpose of said Resolution is to establish the design, structure and the necessary information of those documents that certify the immigration status, such as:
1) Basic Form;
2) Multiple Migratory Form (FMM);
3) Entry and Return Permit;
4) Statistical Format for Mexicans and Mexican returnees;
5) APEC Business Travel Card (APEC – ABTC);
6) Applications for Immigration Proceedings;
7) Among others.
Furthermore, several amendments were made to the Multiple Migratory Form (FMM), which is the document that certifies the immigration status of foreigners in Mexico. The FMM can now be generated either on a printed or electronic form. This due to the fact that the National Institute of Immigration (INAMI) will be able to compile and collect data through electronic devices, giving the possibility to the foreigner to print it themselves, in said scenario the FMM will have the same legal effects as the printed form.
Additionally, we hereby inform you that said resolution came into force on August 1st, 2018, nevertheless all migratory forms and documents issued before the referred date will continue to be valid and will certify the foreigner’s immigration status, until their expiration date. Likewise, the current immigration documents in stock will be used by INAMI up to 180 days after the effective date of the resolution.
For more information regarding said documents, or if you have any doubts or comments, do not hesitate to contact us.
